CONCRETE CLASS

Class 30 Concrete (C30)

3Our class 30 concrete achieves a minimum characteristic compressive strength (fcu) of 30N/mm2 at 28th day after casting. From repeated laboratory tests done, more than 95% of the test sample results pass, for example in a sample of 20 tests, 19 samples pass (this conforms to BS 8110 as illustrated in the chats below).

Engineers’ concrete production conforms to BS 8500 and BS EN 206 technical requirements. Therefore, our concrete mix is designed to have a mean target strength(fm) greater than the specified characteristic strength(fc=30N/mm2) by a given margin (ks).

Concrete target strength, fm for Class 30 is given by:

fm= fc+ ks where;

fc= specified characteristic strength of concrete (30N/mm2)

s = standard deviation from the mean strength of concrete

k = constant depending on the defective level associated with the specified concrete strength. (refer to chats a, b, c)

Our target strength of Class 30 concrete is determined and produced according to our clients’ requirements. In this case, the target strength for Class 30 will be given by: –

fm= 30 + 4*1.64

fm=36.56 N/mm2 (This is the target strength of concrete supplied to our client for Class 30)
